This is a program which allows you to see what e-mails are waiting for you to download from your server. You can quickly see if there may be a virus in one, simply from the size of it. Furthermore, you can Bounce it, Delete it and Blacklist the sender. You can designate what e-mail is from is a Friend and set up filters. The best part is that it's FREE.
For those who have multiple e-mail addresses, there's a professional version that's about $37 but you can try it at no charge for a month. Also, you can subscribe to their newsletter and when paying an additional $7, you will get important notifications AND be able to report spammers/virus e-mailers by clicking on the extra button (not in the 'standard' set-up.

If you'd like to see the e-mail waiting for you, BEFORE you download, simply go to www.mail2web.com Just enter your e-mail address and password. It's probably best to sign in using the SECURE mode. I also use the ADVANCED mode - where your e-mail server is also to be indicated. With the Klez propagation worm "bombing" email addresses AND mailwasher, this is an essential step to take. You can delete any suspicious e-mail prior to it being downloaded to your Mailwasher or computer.
Remember to sign in using the SECURE method.

This is a program that scans your computer to allow you to remove items that were put into your computer by others -- violating your privacy by tracking your internet travels -- and possibly creating other unwanted problems. This is the highest rated spyware by PC World Magazine. It's free. This was mentioned in Dr. Mercola's newsletter (one of my "favorites" listed below). Be sure to get the LATEST version, and updates are available at the PC World Magazine Link below. Also, remember to regularly update the program (from the Help menu) so that the latest spyware can be detected and eliminated.

If Spybot Search and Destroy finds such modules, it will remove them or replace them with empty dummies. In most cases, the host software still runs after removing the bot. As Dr. Mercola states, this is MUCH BETTER than Microsoft's Internet Explorer. Some folks have found IE running when they didn't even have the program open -- so they completely removed that program, and changed their Microsoft Update Settings (Advanced tab) to eliminate the "automatically update" and do manual updates instead. The link for this free program is in Dr. Mercola's letter Again, make sure that you get the LATEST version of Firefox, and you may need to update it after you initially download the program.
