Love your site!  The print-out forms for having the blood tests through Dr. Dodds is especially helpful.  Thanks for providing a great service -- and I like that you're not selling stuff!  You truly are for the animals!  God Bless You!

Glad to know that my work is helping folks -- and their animals!

All the Best,

Helen

The web site is very informative. It has some very valuable information. I'm glad I joined the dog health 2 list & came to this site also. I have 7 dogs to care for & want what is best for them. Not what is best for the vets wallet. The information is much appreciated. Thanks so much.

Hi, my name is Lilianne Merida. I have been treating my dogs holistically for the past 2 1/2 years with amazing results. I am now helping at a small humane society. The wonderful ladies run it out of their own pockets. They keep 25 to 30 dogs. They are very eager to turn holistically and I want to help. I am somewhat overwhelmed with the numbers. Do you have any tips on how to start? Can you recommend a company that manufactures a natural diet that is good and not terribly expensive. I have a great holistic vet that will help us. Thank you very much, Lilianne

Hi Lilianne,

Please let me know your e-mail address so that I may reply to your questions more fully.

Kindest regards,

Helen

I find it very ironic to visit a website called "It's For The Animals" only to find a section of it to be so negative towards a group of people who IMO have done so much for our canine companions - I'm referring to your thumbs down on the Volhard List. I've been a member of this list since it first began & I honestly can't say that I concur with your advice, needless to say that I now give you a big thumbs down when it comes to your website and biased opinions and will no longer refer to you in the same category as others in the holistic field who truly are doing it for the better of our animals!! R. Browne

Dear Rose,

My review of the various internet lists are based upon my own experiences, and I have the documentation to back it up.  The 'last straw' for me was when I recently found out that the Volhard List Owners & Moderators  knowingly disseminated false information, that was important, to hundreds of the list members.  I saw that inaccurate information because it was forwarded to the k9health List of about 500 people.  Having the accurate information to which I am referring may make the difference between life and death  -- especially if someone has an emergency with their dog.

Opinions are inherently biased.  What makes one opinion more valued than another is the source.  Clearly, you and I have had different experiences with the Volhard List.  Mine was not very good.  I chose to exercise my right of free speech and provide an enormous amount of helpful information at my site free of charge for animal lovers.  Your negative value judgment of me, my work, and condemnation of this entire web site -- because you don't like 5 sentences that  justly criticize a List of which you are a member -- really makes my case.

PS. Every page has my e-mail address on it for notes to be sent privately to me.  I would have sent this privately, but you didn't provide your e-mail address.

Sincerely,

Helen

My husband has always given me a hard time for feeding my animals fresh veggies and fruits. Now I have a leg to stand on as I've always thought that if a veggie is good for us, it's gotta be good for my pets. My dog would rather have a carrot stick than a milk bone and my hubby says that isn't natural. I disagree. Thanks for the leg to stand on

I would like to say, THANK YOU!! for sharing the information I have found on your web site. I have six dogs, two of which have food allergies, brought on after vaccinations.

I have also found in my classes, I instruct obedience, many more dogs who have allergies. What is encouraging is that the average pet owner is becoming more informed.

Enjoyed your website. We are the proud parents of Tequila, a five year old Miniature Schnauzer. Your website was recommended by someone in the cocker rescue group. My daughter Ivelisse has two rescued cockers (brother and sister). They now live in Argentina. Both dogs now have developed very bad ear canal problems and Samson (the male) underwent removal of one ear canal. Lilah will also require the same extensive surgery. In the process of recuperation Samson has developed Addison's Disease. This has been devastating for my daughter as these are her babies. The blue powder information sounds very, very encouraging and will definitely try it. I also believe in natural food and try to feed Tequila my own version of a balanced meal. Will definitely get your book to obtain more information on your diet recommendations. We would welcome any recommendations! Thank you Ana Billick email: bptrading@earthlink.net

hello, I have been in the pet industry for a few years and have worked in a few different pet stores. i was reading some of the information posted on your web site and was horrified. one article stated that you only are educated to the supposed benefits of a pet food or a pet product because that is the only thing that the manufacturer wants you to see. for many years I did not know the horrible side effects of these products, food and vaccinations. I don't think in California most of the people who are involved in the pet industry or at least the segment that i am in are aware of the true dangers of these products. I am planning to open my own pet supply store here in California. I want to carry only the best products. i also would like to help educate the public on pet nutrition and on the benefits of using natural and holistic products. would you be able to give me some suggestions please on the best way to find these products and information and anything else that may be useful i would greatly appreciate it. thank you, lauracjackson@prodigy.net

Regarding the formula for "Blue Power Ear Treatment" for my Cocker Spaniel. I'm not any good at recipes, buying some of this and some of that. Can I find someone that has done this job for me and just buy it from them?

I started doing my "homework" after several bad experiences, i.e., after vaccinations my English Springer Spaniel developed epilepsy a few years ago. I thought I would never get another dog, but I did, an Airedale after vaccinations became aggressive, my English Shepherd puppy developed chronic wasting after his first vaccinations, the pattern became clear that the only common thread was the vaccinations. I swore I would never own another dog, but here I am today with two new, 7-week old English Shepherds puppies that I am determined to "do right" by. Thanks for all your info, it was very helpful. Bravo! Steffi Mullins Marithyme reg. Golden Retriever Hobbyist (est.1980) I have worked very closely with Dr. Jean Dodds for 14 years now. NOT because my goldens had any health issues. It was to insure my goldens Kept their health! We have been raising our dogs on Barf diet (or my spin on the idea of Barf ) since 1994. Just healthy goldens. Cancer is a real threat to all animals today and I want to better my goldens chances in any form I find that makes sense. There are times though that I feel eccentric. I am tired of the looks I get from many clients and other dog fanciers when I express my concerns and new found beliefs. Though a good deal of progress has been noticed of lately. Sites such as yours are pioneering the way. Thank you.

I really enjoy your site. It's informative and timely in the information it provides. Thank you for being here. I have five furry kids, four of which came from various rescues...they seem to think they ought to show their gratitude. I'm trying to show mine by making this life as comfortable for them as possible.

Hi. I think this is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about what is going on with my buddy Harley. He is quite important in my life and when he feels bad, I feel bad. I have been fortunate enough to have had him in my life since the beginning of his and that was 12 years ago. He has been by my side 95 % of his life and when he is not around, I feel like a part of me is missing. Thanks for caring. Julie and Harley

Hi. I think this is a wonderful site and a great place to learn about what is wrong with my buddy, Harley. I am fortunate enough to have had him choose me to be with for the past 12 years. He has been by my side for about 95 % of his life and I would do anything for him. When he is not there, I feel like a part of me is missing. He has all the classic symptoms of Cushing's, but his Low Dex test came back normal, but his T4 test came back with HIGH levels. I know this is unusual. I need help with my buddy. We are running a free T4 now. What else should we be looking for? Thanks, Julie and Harley. Jkarma@mindspring.com.
