EULOGY OF THE DOG1George G. VestSeptember 23, 1870" ... The one absolutely unselfish friend that a man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is the dog.
... a man's dog stands by him in prosperity and in poverty, in health and in sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground when the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only he can be near his master's side. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer, he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of his pauper master as if he were a prince.
When all other friends desert, he remains. When riches take wings and reputation falls to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun in its journey through the heavens. If fortune drives the master forth an outcast into the world, friendless and homeless, the faithful dog asks no higher privilege than that of accompanying him, to guard him against danger, to fight against his enemies. And when the last scene of all comes, and death takes his master in its embrace and his body is laid in the cold ground, no matter if all other friends pursue their way, there by his graveside will the noble dog be found, his head between his paws and his eyes sad but open, in alert watchfulness, faithful and true, even unto death."
1 U.S., Congress, Senate, Congressional Record, 101st Cong., 2d sess., pp. S4823-24 (daily edition).
That excerpt is from a speech during a lawsuit resulting from the shooting of Drum, a beloved Foxhound. “Court, jury, lawyers, and audience were entranced. I looked at the jury and saw all were in tears. ” —Gustav Kobbe, A Tribute to the Dog, pp. 9–18 (1911).
“According to John F. Phillips, former law partner of Vest and a member of the House of Representatives, whose comments appear in the Congressional Record with the eulogy on the dog, the jury returned a verdict for the plaintiff for $500, far more than the sum sued for. The excess was remitted. Vest was elected to the Senate eight years later and served 1879–1904”

Thank You, Dr. Jean Dodds!
World-renown vaccine research scientist and practicing veterinarian, Dr. W. Jean Dodds of California, and pet vaccine disclosure advocate, Kris L. Christine of Maine, have established THE RABIES CHALLENGE FUND CHARITABLE TRUST to raise money to fund a 7 year rabies vaccine challenge study in the United States.

Dr. Jean Dodds' latest vaccination protocol (2007)
Dr. Jean Dodds, is founder of HEMOPET, the non-profit animal blood bank, and a friend to animal lovers the world over. HEMOPET is where we can have blood tests to check for vaccine antibodies instead of unnecessarily over-vaccinating our companion animals. She has written an excellent article that everyone, especially our veterinarians, should read.
RABIES VACCINATION is the only vaccination that is Legally Required. This article may help explain why.

Honoring the Dogs who Served our Country -- A National War Dogs Memorial Monument Fund Established!
“There are many reasons for establishing a “National War Dogs Monument” in Washington D.C. The primary one is that our country’s War Dogs have earned the right to be recognized and honored for their service and sacrifice for our nation’s freedom. Secondly, it is long overdue. ... … they worked for food and water and the love of their human companions. In return, their loyalty was unconditional. And they never gave up on the battlefields and didn’t know the meaning of the word, “retreat.”
…All of this and more is why we will never give up on a long overdue
“National War Dogs Monument” to honor all the dogs and handlers of all Wars;
past, present and future. As a “FREE NATION” we owe them this monument,
mandated by Congress, and erected in our nation’s capitol of Washington D.C.
for the entire world to know and see that they are NOT America’s forgotten heroes." To donate (paypal or send checks) to the fund for the 'National War Dogs Memorial".
“…During every modern War (WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Persian Gulf, Bosnia, and now Afghanistan) men have volunteered to serve as "Dog Handlers." The military duty of having served with a dog in War is a bonding relationship and memorable experience like no other, and lasts a lifetime…”
“…It is hoped through this message that these dogs will be remembered and appreciated for the services they provided for our armed forces and to our country. Please copy and forward this page or address to as many dog lovers as you can so that these canine heroes are not forgotten. …The Vietnam Dog Handler Association, a veterans group, is spearheading the drive to honor America's war dogs with a national memorial. To learn more or to make a donation, please visit their web site ...” [Wonderful Photos]
“Dogs have been a part of military life for as long as there have been armies. Many famous commanders have had mascot dogs and the common soldier has had dog companions as part of camp life. A dog is man's best friend even when the man is a soldier….” [Great Web Site – wonderful photos]
“War Dogs”
“A resource for information on the U.S. Army's use of dogs 1942-PresentThe Army Quartermaster Corps began the U.S. Armed Forces first war dog training during WWII. By 1945 they had trained almost 10,000 war dogs for the Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. Fifteen War Dog platoons served overseas in World War II. Seven saw service in Europe and eight in the Pacific. In 1951 the responsibility for training military dogs was given to the Military Police Corps. Dogs continued to serve the armed forces with distinction in Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Afghanistan and Iraq and many recent contingency operations.”

In other words, chemicals such as pesticides are tested individually, however ..."
